Default Water Pump

Had to change my water pump the other day. People always say it's a 10 minute job. The fan and shroud make it a total pain in the ass. It took me 2 hours to figure out a way to move the tension pulley by myself. It's almost a two man job because of it's location.

It's a total crap setup. Other than that its two bolts and a 10 minute job in a very tight space.

If you do it by yourself find something to push down on the flat part of the tension pulley. A crowbar works fine. Remove the serpentine belt from the top left pulley while pushing the tension arm down. Don't try putting a wrench on the bolt on the pulley it's way to small to handle the stress. No I didn't break it but when I had a break over bar on a 13mm bolt head and put an extra 1/2 turn on it and the pulley still hadn't moved figured I better look for another route.

Also you can take the 4 nuts that hold the shroud on off and push the shroud out of the way. I pushed the shroud back and just started the nuts back on the bolts to hold it out of the way while I worked.

Let's read the disclaimer on the electric fans. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR TOWING. There was a bunch of other crap it said but I just couldn't get past that line.

Steve tows all the time with his and it seems to work for him. You make the call depending on how you use the truck.
